Hayling Island Horticultural Society are arranging a coach outing to Leonardslee Gardens and will be visiting the beautiful gardens which promise to be a riot of colour in spring with Magnolias, camellias, rhododendrons and azaleas in full bloom alongside woodland walks and stunning lake views. A grade I listed woodland garden all in a 240 acre estate, Leonardslee is home to an extraordinary range of wildlife including foxes, rabbits, grey squirrels, badgers, weasels, stoats, shrews, voles, and our now famous wallabies. The estate is home to over 100 free roaming deer. Many birds are regularly sighted in spring include electric blue kingfishers, yellow Wagtails and even Buzzards, who have taken to nesting in one of the giant Sequoia (Redwoods) from California.

Leonardslee is a treasure trove of art and nature. Explore beautiful sculptures by local talents from Surrey and Sussex, blended with Anton Smit’s acclaimed works from South Africa at the exhibition of “Walk of Life”. These sculptures transform our woodlands, offering new views of our valley and seven lakes.

There are plenty of facilities for refreshments, as no outside food or drink is allowed, there are gift and plant shops. (The coach will leave Hayling Island at 0820 however we will also be arranging other pick up points nearer the outing date. Cost is £41.00 per person for non HIHS members.
