THE HUMBLE POTATO
John is a retired head gardener and horticultural lecturer.
He has designed two gardens for the Chelsea Flower Show which included The Dig for Victory Garden in 2001.
He was also a judge on the ‘Great British Village Show’ a programme hosted by Alan Titchmarsh which aired on Sunday evenings on BBC1 in 2007.
This evening’s talk will take you to the high Andes in Peru and Chile, tracing the history of the potato up to the present time. Covering breeding, cultivation, showing, pest and disease control.
