Peter Maunder, who died on the 15th October 2001 aged 75, was an inspirational Chairman, of great distinction for 15 years, of The Hampshire Federation of Horticultural Societies and subsequently, and until the very end, a very active President. Peter also served on the Executive of The Hampshire Gardens Trust for many years.
The annual Peter Maunder Garden Competition has been held in his memory since 2004.
It is open to members of affiliated Horticultural Societies and Garden clubs. There is no limit on the number of gardens each society may enter but all gardens must be planted by the entrants. Cash prizes are awarded for First, Second and Third places. The Veolia Trophy is awarded to the winning Garden Owner.
